Forward Sioux Falls Build Dakota Grant

The Forward Sioux Falls Build Dakota Grant provides companies with the opportunity to get additional funding that they can use to leverage the Build Dakota Scholarship program to grow their workforce. The Build Dakota Scholarship program offers full ride scholarships (tuition, fees, books and tools) to students that are entering high need work areas in South Dakota.

Under The Southeast Tech Foundation’s Sponsor A Scholar 50/50 Match Program, industry partners who sponsor a Build Dakota student with half of the total college expenses can request funds from the Build Dakota Scholarship for the remaining expenses to create a full ride scholarship for the student selected by the industry partner. Students selected by an industry sponsor are bound by the Build Dakota Scholarship requirements and any additional requirements arranged between them and their industry sponsor.

The Forward Sioux Falls Build Dakota Grant would offer members of The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Forward Sioux Falls, and The Sioux Falls Development Foundation the opportunity to apply for a grant that would offset one third of the industry investment into the Sponsor A Scholar 50/50 Match program at Southeast Tech.

To be eligible for this grant, your company needs to be a member of Forward Sioux Falls, The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce or the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. Companies that bring forward a new student to enroll at Southeast Tech will get priority consideration for the Forward Sioux Falls Grant. Companies that do not have a student identified can meet a student at our Build Dakota Match event on April 7, 2017.

The Build Dakota Match Event on April 7, 2017 is your opportunity to meet prospective students from these programs that are interested in connecting with a sponsor. At this event your company can meet and interview potential students that are enrolled to attend Southeast Tech in the fall and are interested in securing a Build Dakota scholarship by making a commitment to a sponsoring company.

To get signed up to participate in this event, register here.

There will be an informational meeting for companies starting at 11:30. Table set up will begin at 12:00 with the match event starting at 12:30. The event will be conducted similar to a job fair where the students will rotate through the company tables. Interview rooms will be available if needed. Please register for this event no later than March 30, 2016.

Southeast Tech has had an overwhelming response to the Build Dakota Scholarship with over 200 applications for the Fall 2017 semester. Not securing a sponsor does not take the student out of the consideration to receive a Build Dakota Scholarship, however securing a sponsor guarantees the student will be awarded a full ride scholarship to begin their education.*
