Does the concept of working with high-tech computer security inspire you? At Southeast Tech, get to where you want to be in just two years with an Information Technology Security degree. As an Information Technology Security Technician, sometimes called an Information Security Analyst, you’ll be a highly-valued employee responsible for the security of the computer network infrastructure and protecting the network and the network-accessible resources from unauthorized access. You’ll learn how to authenticate users, maintain firewalls, utilize intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and monitor the network for suspicious and abnormal activity. You’ll also learn how to educate end-users about computer security, install security software, respond to cyber attacks and in some cases gather data and evidence to be used in prosecuting cyber crime.

Ken teaches CIS Networking with emphasis on Computer Network Security. He began working at Southeast Tech in the fall of 2007 as the department workstudy. Upon graduating in 2008, became a part-time CIS Networking instructor at Southeast Tech. His industry experience includes IT Administration – over six years for a private-sector business performing all aspects of Information Technology skills including:
• Security Audits
• Cable Management
• Server Installation and Maintenance
• Windows Server 2003 – 2012 administration
• Cisco ASA and VPN technology
• Telecommuting technologies
• Troubleshooting with clients remotely
• Customer service
• Education of users
In his free time Ken enjoys fishing, camping, travel and road trips and cheering on the Minnesota Twins.
