Veterinary Technicians support veterinarians by aiding in the evaluation and treatment of large and small animals. They perform medical tests under supervision to assist in diagnosing injuries and illnesses. Courses include animal anatomy, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, medical imaging, laboratory processes, animal care, disease prevention, anesthesiology, pain management and surgical support. Veterinary Technicians can also provide assistance to biomedical researchers and other scientists.
Veterinary Technicians can work in agricultural production settings, laboratories, research facilities, animal hospitals and clinics. Veterinary Technician students will have the opportunity to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam.
