‘Dirty Jobs’ host funds scholarship
Celebrity Mike Rowe’s visit to South Dakota last year to promote technical school education has inspired him to fund scholarships for those students.
The mikeroweWORKS Foundation is partnering with Build Dakota Scholarships to provide $5,000 Finish Strong Scholarships to 10 second-year technical education students.
Southeast Tech Alum Hired to Lead City
Jason Vacura, a graduate of Southeast Tech's Civil Engineering Technology program, has been hired as Le Mars, Iowa's new City Administrator. Vacura has been with the city for more than 20 years, serving as an inspector, code enforcement officer, and most recently, assistant city administrator.
Avera Academy: A Southeast Tech partnership with Avera Health and the Sioux Falls School District
This fall, 24 seniors enrolled in Sioux Falls public schools will be on Southeast Tech’s campus, earning both high school and college credit, while learning more about careers in healthcare through a new partnership between Avera, the Sioux Falls School District (SFSD) and Southeast Tech.
Southeast Tech to Host Women in Science Event: Nearly 800 Middle School Girls, Teachers to Attend
Southeast Tech will hold a Women in Science event on campus Wednesday, March 6 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nearly 800 eighth-grade girls and teachers are expected to attend. The event will feature technical career paths and presentations by presenters in science-related occupations. The day is structured so each girl has the opportunity to hear at least five presentations and visit the exhibit room, where approximately 30 exhibitors will have displays.
