Jenn Sparkman is the Program Director and an Instructor for the Respiratory Therapist program at Southeast Technical College. She has been in the role since the program launch in 2024, bringing with her more than a decade of experience in respiratory care, specifically in critical care and advanced practices.
She graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center with a master’s degree in respiratory care, which fueled her passion for research and innovative approaches to mechanical ventilation management and patient care. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy through the University of Cincinnati, and an Associate of Science through Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell, where she was born and raised.
Jenn began her career at Lyndon B Johnson General Hospital in Houston, Texas. There, she honed her skills, quickly became lead therapist, and discovered her love for teaching when she founded the respiratory portion of the nurse intern orientation program and precepting respiratory therapy students. Her career eventually landed her in Washington state, in which she learned advanced respiratory practice involving insertion of arterial lines, ultrasound guided arterial punctures, intubation and specialty bronchoscopy.
Jenn is a member of the American Association for Respiratory Care and recently presented her teams research study encompassing the ever-challenging occurrence of Respiratory Therapist burnout at the AARC National Congress in Nashville, Tenn.
