Keith Gries

Keith Gries is a Law Enforcement Science instructor with 28 years of Law Enforcement experience. Prior to teaching at Southeast Tech, he was a member of the Sioux Falls Police Department for nearly 27 years.  He has worked in all areas of the department, working as a Patrol Officer, Detective with the Crimes Against Persons section, Patrol Shift Sergeant, Traffic Officer and Traffic Sergeant, Quadrant Commander/Lieutenant and most recently, as the Patrol Commander/Captain. 

Keith also has 15 years of experience as a SWAT operator, Team Leader and Team Commander.  He has overseen hundreds of critical incidents and thousands of investigations. Keith served for 10 years on the department’s Honor Guard team.  He is a military veteran, having served 22 years with the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army.

Keith has an associate degree in Applied Police Science.
