Veterinary Technician Program Receives Industry Accreditation
The Veterinary Technician program at Southeast Technical College has been granted accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), giving STC students additional opportunities post-graduation.
“With this accreditation, our students are now eligible to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam and become registered veterinary technicians in multiple states,” said Dr. Emily Stahl, STC’s Veterinary Technician Program Director. “STC has the only Veterinary Technician program in South Dakota, so ensuring our program is top-quality is vital.”
Accreditation through the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is a voluntary process. The AVMA evaluation process is designed to enhance profession and to protect the public through a rigorous self-evaluation process followed by a site visit by the commission to verify and validate industry standards. Southeast Tech was evaluated for quality based on standards within the industry.
“Earning this recognition demonstrates the quality of our program and your commitment to providing an outstanding experience to our students and community,” Stahl said.
Southeast Technical College’s Veterinary Technician program launched in 2020 and is consistently full each year.
