Southeast Tech Announces New Scheduling Options for Community Health Worker Certificate
Students may Complete Credential in as Little as 8 Weeks
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Southeast Technical College will offer an 8-week option for students to receive a Community Health Worker certificate, in addition to the current 16-week option. The shorter tracks will begin the Summer 2023 semester.
“We heard very clearly from area healthcare professionals that we need to train new community health workers faster,” said Bob Griggs, president at Southeast Tech. “These workers are essential in the community and help individuals adopt healthy behaviors through service coordination, advocacy, outreach and education.”
Both the 8-week and 16-week programs have five required courses, totaling 10 credits, with one optional elective course.
This summer, the shorter track runs June 1 through July 21, 2023. When fall classes begin on Aug. 12, 2023, an 8-week and 16-week cohort begin, with a second option for the 8-week track beginning Oct. 16, 2023.
