Southeast Technical College Launching Respiratory Therapist, Medical Lab Technician Programs

Southeast Technical College is launching new Respiratory Therapist and Medical Lab Technician programs this spring. Both are associate degree programs with full-ride scholarship opportunities available through the Build Dakota Scholarship and industry sponsorships. Classes begin Jan. 8, 2024.

“Healthcare providers across the area are in high need of respiratory therapists and med lab techs,” said STC President Robert Griggs. “Both programs were developed hand-in-hand with industry to ensure our graduates are well-educated and up-to-speed on technologies and practices in today’s health systems.”

The average starting salary for both degrees is around $50,000, according to data supplied by various government sources.

“These programs support our mission to help meet the workforce needs of the region,” said Dr. Benjamin Valdez, Vice President of Academic Affairs, STC.

Because of the high demand of healthcare workers in these fields, both programs are eligible for the full ride Build Dakota Scholarship and other scholarship and sponsorship opportunities through Avera and Monument Health.
