Southeast Technical College Offers Fall Start for Behavioral and Mental Health Technician Program
Staying true to Southeast Technical College’s mission to meet the workforce needs of the region, STC is adding a fall cohort for its Behavioral and Mental Health Technician program for the Fall 2024 semester.
“The community need for behavioral and mental health technicians is great, so we are expanding the opportunity to train more professionals yet this year,” said Tracy Bird, STC’s program director for the Behavioral and Mental Health Technician program. “Our program at STC provides students the knowledge and hands-on skills to promote holistic and evidence-based care in human services.”
Full-ride and other scholarship opportunities are available for eligible full-time students. Prospective students should apply through STC’s admission office and then, once accepted, apply for scholarships.
The program launched in Spring 2024, with the first cohort expected to graduate in Spring 2026.
Many Behavioral and Mental Health Technicians work in outpatient mental health facilities or inpatient psychiatric departments while others find employment in addiction treatment centers, youth and adult residential facilities, long-term care agencies, juvenile and adult corrections and re-entry services, prevention programming and shelters for victims of domestic violence or the unhoused population.
