iPad Required Program

Select programs at Southeast Tech utilize iPads in the classroom. Apps that are required for your program will be purchased through the Southeast Tech Bookstore. Southeast Tech does not have iPads available for student purchase. Students in these programs will need to purchase an iPad prior to their scheduled JumpStart session. You will need to bring your iPad with you to JumpStart to get it set up to be used for your classes.

*All students receiving Build Dakota Scholarships will be required to purchase an iPad appropriate for their program from the Southeast Tech Bookstore. This cost is paid as part of the scholarship. 

**External keyboard and stylus required for iPad programs. Students will need a laptop for some required courses. 

Warranty Recommendations

Southeast Tech recommends that you purchase an extended warranty and accidental damage protection for your iPad. AppleCare+ for iPad will provide this coverage and can be added to your new iPad purchase. Otherwise, you can visit www.apple.com/support/products/ipad.html to see the process for adding AppleCare+ for iPad later. This must be added within 30 days of purchase.

Laptop use for iPad required students

Some classes in programs requiring an iPad will also require the use of a laptop. These classes are Multi-Disciplinary Health Team and Electronic Health Records. For these courses, students will need to have a laptop to use for class. If a student does not have a laptop and does not wish to purchase a laptop, they will be allowed to rent a laptop from Southeast Tech for the semester(s) a laptop is required.

Southeast Tech Virtual PC (vPC)

Students in an iPad required program will be able to use a vPC to access a Microsoft Windows environment and basic software needed for their classes on their iPads. The link to the VMware Horizon View Client app and setup instructions are located at guides.southeasttech.edu.

Support information

Students in an iPad required program can receive limited support for their iPads at the Southeast Tech IT Support Center. This includes assistance with setting up and accessing vPC, connecting to the wireless network, setting up a Southeast Tech email account and troubleshooting issues with built-in apps and settings.

If you wish to purchase a Southeast Tech laptop, please complete the reservation form (login required) to ensure that a laptop is ready for you at JumpStart. Build Dakota scholarship recipients will automatically have an appropriate laptop or iPad reserved for them based on their major, as the cost is covered as part of their scholarship.
