Invasive Cardiovascular Technology

Associate Degree Program - 80 Credits

Southeast Tech’s 24-month program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology builds your skills so you can work alongside physicians during cardiac catheterizations.

With a focus on diagnosing and treating heart and vascular disease, your work as a Cardiovascular Technologist also might include conducting electrocardiograms, lung function tests, or electrophysiology procedures, or assisting physicians with balloon angioplasty.

Your coursework will in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, will emphasize:

  • Radiation physics
  • Cardiac anatomy and physiology
  • Coronary angiography
  • Peripheral angiography
  • Cardiac pressures
  • Left and right cardiac catheterizations
  • Cardiac Interventions

Clinical work is integral to your experience in STC’s Cardiovascular Tech program. You will be placed in a clinical setting for seven months in medical centers across the U.S.

Your clinical work will be a key building block for your future as a medical professional, informing your critical thinking and problem-solving.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death among U.S. men and women, the CDC reports. You can have an impact. You will compare/contrast analytical data from cardiovascular diagnostic tools and you will understand how procedures are selected based on patient pathologies.
