Healthcare Programs Assemble, Donates Feminine Hygiene Products
Group Donates 143 Kits
Southeast Technical College’s Healthcare programs participated in the first-ever Service To Community (STC) Day by organizing their own Feminine Hygiene Product Drive.
“Lack of feminine hygiene products is a hidden consequence of poverty,” said co-organizer Stephanie Entringer, a nursing instructor at Southeast Tech.
Paige Gau, co-organizer and nursing instructor echoed the sentiments. “Meeting the hygiene needs of all adolescent girls and women is a fundamental issue of human rights, dignity and public health.”
Students began collecting products from the campus community in early April at various donation locations, collecting 424 items. The products were grouped, assembled into 143 kits, and donated to various transitional living facilities in the region on April 20.
The kits included items such as tampons, feminine napkins, chapstick, toothbrushes, toothpaste, travel size Advil or Tylenol and lotion.
