PREREQUISITES TO LPN
CNA is required for this program. If you have not taken CNA, you will be required to take HC 106 and HC 106S.

Admission Criteria  

 Two of the following: 
  • HS GPA: 2.5 GPA 
  • GED: 500 
  • ACT: 18 
  • SAT: 960
  • US-HS Rank: Upper Half 
  • Professional Discretion 
Students not meeting two of the above requirements are required to meet Next-Generation ACCUPLACER entrance requirements: 
  • Writing: 255 
  • Math: 217 
All students must also meet the TEAS Requirement Scores: 
  • TEAS Math: 62 
  • TEAS Reading: 75

Background Check and Drug Screen  

Completion of a background check and drug screen are required before program classes start.

CNA Certification

Students must have a CNA certificate to enroll in the LPN program. This course may be taken for credit if prior certification is not complete.   

Immunizations

This program requires additional immunizations. Please refer to the Health & Human Services Academic Handbook for additional details.

Uniforms  

Uniforms are required for this program and are available from the Southeast Tech Bookstore.

Required Supplies
The following required supplies can be purchased in the Southeast Tech Bookstore:
  • Pen light
  • Stethoscope
  • Bandage Scissors

Applicants must complete and return an LPN Prerequisite Form before admittance into the program. 

LPN Prerequisite Form

CPR Certification: Students are required to provide proof of current American Heart Association CPR Certification before LPN coursework begins. At AAR and JumpStart, the program faculty representative will discuss this in detail. Southeast Tech does offer this training, if needed. To view the schedule, visit the Testing page on STInet. Click on Course Search at the bottom of the page. Then, type CPR in the Course Code field.

Technology Requirements

Southeast Technical Institute's Licensed Practical Nurse program is a Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) program. You may purchase a laptop on your own or from the Southeast Tech Support Center.
