Next-Generation Accuplacer Exam   ATI TEAS Version 7   NACE I

Next-Generation ACCUPLACER Exam

As an Entrance Exam

Some applicants may be asked to take the Next-Generation ACCUPLACER Test as an entrance requirement for the following reasons:

  1. Passed GED but did not take ACT test;
  2. ACT score does not meet academic program requirements; and/or
  3. High school GPA does not meet academic program requirements.
  • The first attempt at taking the Accuplacer is free. If you are enrolling in a program that requires a higher-level Math or English course and are within 10 points of testing into the next-higher class, your second attempt is also free. If you are not within 10 points of testing into the next-higher class, or if you attempt the test for a third time, the charge is $35.
  • If you cannot travel to the Testing Center to take this exam, please call 605-367-6014 to arrange proctored testing at another location.
  • Next-Generation ACCUPLACER uses the latest computer-adaptive technology, and the questions you see are based on your skill level. Your response to each question drives the difficulty level of the next question, so it’s important to give each question as much thought as you can before selecting your answer.

Preparation

Applicants are strongly encouraged to prepare for this exam. Even if you scored high on the ACT or other standardized tests, do not assume you are prepared for the Next-Generation ACCUPLACER.

Southeast Technical College offers the Writing; Reading; and Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics (QAS) sections of the Next-Generation ACCUPLACER test. For placement into English courses, students need to take the Writing section. For placement into Math courses, students need to take the QAS section.
