Horticulture Career Academy

Earn Credits + Cash

High school students 16 and older can earn college credit and paid work experience with local professionals in horticulture and sports turf management.

What You'll Learn

Through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory experience in STC's Ed Wood and Trade Center combined with on-the-job training, you’ll learn:

Three College Credits

With the Horticulture Career Academy at Southeast Technical College, you will earn three college credits that count toward an associate degree in Horticulture Technology or Sports Turf Management.

  • HT 111 – Horticulture Science – 2 credits
  • HT 111L – Horticulture Science Lab - 1 credit

High school students may be able to enroll in the Horticulture Career Academy as a Dual Credit student and receive high school credit in addition to college credit. The Admissions office can provide additional information on this option.

How to Apply

Horticulture Career Academy

  1. Apply

    After Jan. 1, 2024, complete the Southeast Tech application. Select "Dual Credit" when asked "What kind of student are you?" Selections will be made in April 2024. 

  2. Interview

    Interview with industry professionals to discuss your qualifications and unique opportunities. Dates, work hours and salary vary by company.

  3. Learn and Work

    If selected, classes begin May 28, 2024.
