What will you Learn?
This Diesel Technology program focuses on the heavy equipment segment of diesel technology. Modern equipment uses GPS and computer controls to map fields and job sites. Skilled technicians are required to diagnose, repair and maintain this advanced machinery. Your coursework will cover brakes, steering, power trains, electrical systems, suspension, air conditioning and hydraulics. Your classes also help you:
Know your Tools: Diesel Technicians use pneumatic tools, lathes, welding equipment and grinding machines. You also will become adept at using hand tools, including wrenches, pliers, hammers, screwdrivers and files.
Problem Solve: Your critical-thinking skills will be valuable. As a diesel technician, you will need to be methodical in your work: identify the problem, evaluate options, estimate results, identify best response, prioritize work, and implement solution.
