Southeast Technical college announced today that it has earned the 2025-2026 Military Friendly® School designation. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2025-2026 survey with 830 earning special awards for going above the standard.
Southeast Technical College's Community Health Worker (CHW) program has earned certification through the Community Health Worker Collaborative of South Dakota (CHWSD) and the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH), reinforcing its high-quality training, workforce readiness and positioning STC as a leader in CHW education.
Ashley Krull was 10 years old when she decided to become a nurse. Her interest was sparked when the Luverne, Minn., native helped her grandfather recover from knee replacement surgery. Ashley landed her first job as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) when she was 18 and planned to go to nursing school that fall, but she put school on hold when her life took a different path.
Southeast Technical College students and instructors recently hosted an engaging, challenging math competition for 6th-8th grade students. About 45 students from six schools ranging from Vermillion to Brookings participated, and some will continue to the state-level competition. The MATHCOUNTS competition series “builds problem-solving skills and fosters achievement through four levels of fun, in-person ‘bee’ style contests.”
Southeast Technical College will host a Women in Science event on campus Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nearly 930 eighth-grade girls and teachers are expected to attend. The event features technical career paths, and each girl can hear at least five presentations and visit the exhibit hall, where approximately 23 exhibitors will have displays.
